SLIPPING into The Biggest Loser training role vacated by former fitness guru Jillian Michaels has been a challenge, but not as tough as Kim Lyons's weight battles of the past.
While she's trim, taut and terrific now, Lyons, whose family has a history of depression, struggled with her weight during college. Her weight ballooned by more than 18 kilograms."Depression runs very strongly in my family . . . but I have conquered it completely because I exercise," the 33-year-old American said.Lyons joins trainer Bob Harper on the US version of the makeover reality program that returns to Network Ten on October 2. Series three will feature 50 contestants pitted against each other to beat the bulge and win the grand prize of $US250,000 ($333,000).With little TV experience, Lyons said taking over from straight-shooting Michaels was daunting. She hopes her dedication to the program can help combat the epidemic of obesity in the Western world and especially in Australia, which has the fastest rising rate of childhood obesity.
