Clients have assessments at the start and end of the program, having blood pressure, blood lipids, fitness and pulmonary and heart function measured.

The five-week program includes a one-hour session once a week with a program trainer. Clients can incorporate exercises into their lifestyle, such as taking the stairs and not the lift.

The clinic is open only to university staff but it will soon be available to patients and staff from the Prince of Wales and Sydney Children's hospitals.

To find an exercise physiologist, see the Australian Association for Exercise and Sport Science website at www.aaess.com.au.
